Eyelid Surgery

Eyelid surgery is also known as blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure to progress the appearance of the eyelids by removing fat, skin, and tissues from the lower and upper eyelids. The procedure rejuvenates the skin around the eyelids and improves the appetence of eyes. Puffy bags under the eyes and weary eyelids give a tired or old look. With eyelid surgery, the skin around the eyelids is rejuvenated and gives an attractive and refreshed look. The procedure is usually performed along with facelift surgery or brow lift surgery to mark a remarkable makeover to the face. At Anew aesthetic advanced daycare centre, we provide services for both surgical and non-surgical treatment to improve the overall aesthetic appearance and to eliminate all cosmetic problems associated with various parts of the body.

Why choose eyelid surgery

  • Removes sagging or loose excess skin on the eyelids
  • Removes fat deposits that appear as puffiness around the eyelids
  • Remove fine line wrinkles
  • Take away dark circles under your eyes
  • Get rid of drooping lower eyelids

Eyelid surgery procedure

The aesthetic surgeon initiates the procedure by administering a dose of anesthetic to the patient. Incisions are made in such a way to minimize the visibility of incision lines and scars. For correction in the upper eyelids, incisions are made in the crease of the eyelid. The excess fat deposits and tissue are removed and the muscles are tightened. For the lower eyelid, incisions are made in the below the lower eyelash line. Excess fat deposits and skin tissues are removed to get rid of puffiness and sagging.

Another method of correcting the lower eyelid is by making a transconjunctival incision on the inside of the eyelid to remove excess fat. In this technique, skin is not removed from the lower eyelid.

After the procedure, the incisions are closed with sutures or skin glue. The stitches are removed after a week. The procedure may take from one to two hours to complete. Patients may experience pain and swelling for few days after the surgery. The aesthetic surgeon applies ointment to lubricate the area. Specific instructions are provided on how to care for your eyes, oral medications and ointments to apply to aid the healing process and to reduce the risk of infection.

Other instructions that need to be followed include:

  • Keep your head elevated using pillows while resting
  • Use cold compresses to help reduce swelling and discomfort
  • Use eye drops to soothe the itchiness and discomfort.
  • Make sure to wear sunglasses for few weeks after surgery to guard your eyes from sunlight and dust.
